Incoloy 800 series nickel‑iron‑chromium alloys are common materials for high‑temperature pressure‑bearing equipment. Most overseas buyers are unaware of the critical gap between Incoloy 800 and Incoloy 800H, even though their chemical composition looks nearly identical. The carbon‑content adjustment creates huge differences in creep‑rupture performance under long‑term high‑temperature load. Incoloy 800 has a relatively low carbon content. It offers good general‑purpose oxidation and carburization resistance, suitable for moderate high‑temperature conditions without sustained heavy mechanical stress. Typical applications include oven liners and non‑pressure heating components. It is not designed for long‑term creep‑loaded pressure vessel service above 600 °C. Incoloy 800H is the heat‑resistant optimized variant of Incoloy 800, with controlled higher carbon content. Higher carbon significantly improves creep‑rupture strength under continuous high‑temperature mechanical load. That makes Incoloy 800H qualified for high‑temperature pressure vessels, steam reformer tubes, petrochemical furnace tubing and equipment working long hours at 600 °C‑950 °C. Please note that Incoloy 800H requires specified heat‑treatment to achieve target mechanical properties. Decision‑making tips: - Use Incoloy 800: Non‑pressure furnace parts, moderate temperature service, no long‑term creep load requirement. - Use Incoloy 800H: Pressure‑bearing high‑temperature pipes, reformer tubes, equipment under sustained high‑temperature mechanical stress. Using Incoloy 800 to replace Incoloy 800H for pressure‑bearing components will create major safety hazards.
